In our spare time, we've also embarked on another adventure: PRE-potty training. Kyler will be 21 months in a week or so, but I have a friend who's little girl was fully potty trained by that age! I'm not expecting anything, but it can't help to introduce the idea, right??? I noticed my cousin, Kelly, is going through the same thing with her little boy, Jake.
So I bought a book (of course, those of you that know me, know I buy a book for everything) but I think it may be back-firing. It says to start teaching the terminology. So Chris and I had to go over a long list and decide on our words, ie pee-pee, tinkle, wee-wee, willy, poos, caca, BM, tushy, bum, etc. So now Kyler is running around saying, "PEE-PEE, POO-POO". Great. Then, we taught him not to fear the flush. So he cranks on all the flushers in the house until the chains break! Great! There is also another good story about putting some of the poop from his diaper into the toilet and flushing it, but I've been banned from telling it.
Anyway, we got him a little potty just so he can get used to it, but he won't be still long enough to sit on it, especially not with his pants off. So for now, we'll take what we can get.
I'm starting to think this would be easier.

Hate that you have all been so sick! I love the expression on Kyler's face, sort of like "oh brother, now what!"
And that pic of Charlie is just too crazy. I saw it at work and cracked up out loud and so did everyone I showed it to! Maybe they can both be trained together to go on the potty!

OMG, that pic of Charlie is absolutely hilarious!!!! Very funny post. The potty-training is the big blogger topic these days! Jennifer just posted something about it too. Watch Maddy beat all the boys on the potty training skills! :) I've heard girls are better at it than boys. We'll see....
Sorry everyone has been sick at your house lately :( I am sick as a dog right now (so is my dad, but luckily Jake and Ralphie and my mom have been spared so far), so I can sympathize with you! NOT FUN!!

Sorry to hear you guys have been sick. That's never fun. Maddy had an upper respiratory thing last week, but that's the worst we've had, so far. (knock on wood)
We introduced the potty after Maddy's 1st birthday. She sits on her Elmo potty before she gets in the bath tub. She sits there for 20 seconds then hits Elmo's hand and he speaks to her, sometimes in Spanish. Then she's headed for the tub. She has managed to pee on the bathroom floor several times, immediately after getting off the potty and laughs about it. So, I'll force myself to be optimistic about potty training, but I'm not holding my breath. My money's on the boys!! :-)
