The Ladies Man

Kyler is such a ladies man; he had 2 dates in one week. On Saturday, we went to Annapolis to see our friends Leslie, Carl, and their new baby, Isabelle. She was born Christmas morning, then had to make the big move from Canada to Annapolis, MD 2 weeks later. We had a nice visit and Isabelle is very cute and little! Its hard to believe Kyler was that small just a few months ago.....She was so quiet, I don't think Kyler even realized what we were holding. Finally towards the end of the day, she let out a little squawk and Kyler got all interested, like, "oh, its alive!"

Then on Wednesday, my friend Julie and her little girl Sophia came over to play. Sophia is 7 1/2 weeks older then Kyler and boy was she a preview of things to come. She was crawling all over the place, including up the 2 steps into the kitchen. She was pulling up on everything and even "walking" with Mommy holding onto her hands. I think Kyler was a little jealous. They would be sitting playing together and Sophia would take off crawling to do something else. So Kyler would just throw himself on to the ground and start flailing around like a beached whale. Poor guy, he'll get it soon. Besides, gives us more time to get back on the baby proofing!

"I'll play with her, but I won't look at her"

"I'm not looking at him either!"

Quite a change from their first meeting last May.

Kyler is 8 months old!

Sorry about no post in a while...my mind has been elsewhere the past week or so.
Anyway, Kyler hit the 8 month mark last week, Monday. His stats are 19 lbs 2 oz and 29.5 inches long (no appointment this month, just from our measurements at home).

He is really getting around now. His mode of choice is the roll which he will do all around the room. He also like to scoot/crawl backwards, and with no rear view mirror, he often ends up under the table. He also loves to stand while holding onto things: coffee table, his toy car, piano, etc. Chris even saw him pull himself up once on his own with his piano. But when Chris yelled for me to come in and see, it startled Kyler and he took a spill. (But we'll go on Chris word.)

Standing tall

Rolling around (Yes that is a dog chew toy next to him and yes he has been known to chew them)

We are working franticly to babyproof the house. You just don't realize something is a danger until you see your kid's face inches from it. We actually just got this cover for the fireplace and it works great. We had a hard time finding something because ours is stone and uneven. I found this place on line that sends you pieces based on your exact measurements and it covers the whole hearth, not just the edges. It was $100 but I think it is totally worth it. Anyone who needs something like this should check it out at www.babysafetyfoam.com.

Kyler has also moved onto some finger food. He likes the baby puff things. At first though, he would just open his mouth REAL wide and cry if you didn't put one in his mouth. Now he is managing on his own.

Is this how you play football? Apparently, if you're the Eagles!

Christmas, part 2

This past Saturday night was Christmas with my Dad's side of the family. It was great because we got to see all my cousins' babies that were born within 2 months of Kyler. You may remember them from the picnic back in July-they have really gotten big since then, and some of them are really mobile.

The whole gang. All my local cousins' kids on my Dad's side. (L to R): Brittany and Madison, Olivia, Ethan, Jake, Kyler, Brian, and Brett. *
