Secret lovers...that's what they are..

Charlie and Darby (Dog and Cat) normally have a hate, hate relationship. They will rarely be in the same room with each other unless they are chasing each other hissing and barking. You can imagine my surprise when I found these 2 lounging together, when they thought no one was looking! Okay, well maybe not secret lovers, since they are both boys, and different species, but at least they are more friendly than they let on.

This past week was Granpa's birthday and we celebrated at Gramma and Granpa's house. Kyler had fun, even though he didn't get any cake. He'll get some soon enough at his B-day in just over 2 months!

Kyler is 9 months old!

Kyler turned 9 months last week (on the 8th), and had his appointment with the doctor on Friday. Luckily, no shots this month, just a prick to check for anemia (which was fine) and he didn't even flinch. He is now a whopping 20 pounds, 7.9 ounces and 30 inches long (bulking up a little, but still kind of a stringbean).

His progress continues: Top tooth on the right has just come through. He also loves clapping and just started to boogy a little on his own when he hears music. Not long after mastering crawling, he started going up the 2 steps (with supervision) to the kitchen. Problem is, he likes to try to go down the same way he went up: head first. We'll have to work on that one. He has also started to "cruise" around, walking a little while holding onto things. He sometimes forgets about the "holding on" part, though, which resulted in his first boo boo. He fell and bumped the table, resulting in a fat lip! I was right there too, but the bugger went down so fast. The table was covered with a pad, so I went out and bought additional padding for the edges. I think I'm at about $600 in baby proofing and still could use some more. Chris thinks I should start some kind of business in baby proofing since its such a $$$ maker! Who can put a price on the safety of their child!

I don't think I'm going to make it to my first birthday for my first haircut.

What am I 9 months or 90 years old? This is my grouchy old man look.

Stay at Gramma and Granpa's

We had our first trip away from Kyler and it was only semi-traumatizing for me. We went to Colorado for a snowboarding trip at Breckenridge and Vail. We met up with Angela and Greg, our friends from Florida, and had a great time. We got a little bit of snow each day we were there, although not as much as we are getting here now! I was a little rusty since I was pregnant last year and didn't do any boarding, but I managed to come back in one piece.
I also kept up with pumping the whole time and packed the milk up in a cooler in my suitcase to bring back. I was sure I was going to get pulled from the plane to explain the motorized machine and small bottles of unidentified liquid in my suitcase, but I was free and clear. Those of you that have pumped know that stuff is liquid gold and you don't waste it!

While we were gone, Kyler stayed at Gramma and Granpa's and all 3 of them had a blast.

Kyler had no problems adjusting to being at the grandparents' house and stayed right on his schedule. As you can see, his appetite was unaffected.

My dad really pitched in, doing more than my mom says he did with us when we were kids. He even changed a poopy diaper. Although you may notice something isn't quite right in this pic! (Click on picture for a larger view).

He did it!

Kyler is officially crawling and pulling up too! After a couple of weeks of frustrated (for him, quite funny for us), knee rocking, belly crawling, sitting-rolling combos, he finally put it together this past Tuesday.

And of course the first thing is to head right for the glass doors of the TV stand. Back to the baby-proofing.

Then today, I was eating my lunch while Kyler was doing his kneel and bite the table trick.

The next thing I knew, he was standing across the table looking right at me!

And on a Mommy note, I gotta say this pumping thing is getting old! It is way to cold now to be whipping them out in the car. Then, the other day when I was packing my many bags for the day (Kyler's diaper bag, my work bag, gym bag, breast pump, my lunch, Kyler's lunch, Chris' lunch), I must have forgot to pack the bottles that catch the milk. So I'm in a parking lot, ready to go with my suction cups, but nothing for the milk to go in. So I tried to rig up my empty water bottle but it wasn't happening. Anyway, I will continue pumping for now but we will see....

Oh and I gotta show you this. Here is Kyler "helping" Mommy with her important work papers while I type this post.
